NAMI, the National Alliance on Mental Illness, is the nation’s largest grassroots mental health organization dedicated to building better lives for Americans affected by mental illness. NAMI Washington provides support for the 23 affiliate offices in our state.
A state conference logo for NAMI was conceived as a reusable symbol to promote their annual event. One year the theme was Road to Recovery: Mental Health Matters, the next it was Mental Health at the Intersections. I counterpoised two profile shapes in positive and negative to suggest the dark and light elements of mental illness coexisting in balance with one another. The road flows through the design, signifying a journey of hope leading to the sun.
