The Lake Worth Community Guide is a custom publication the Murray Media group produces annually for the town of Lake Worth, Texas. I have designed it twice since joining the creative team. This magazine provides information about local government services, town leadership, resources for the residents, public events and has special interest stories.
When I started the design of the fall 2022 issue, I noticed that previous issues did not reflect a consistent type hierarchy. The fonts and signature colors changed frequently from year to year. I created a style guide to assist with laying out the type and suggested a color palette for future issues. San Serif fonts were used, to give the publication a more contemporary reboot with primary, bold colors that identify each section of content. The body copy is a bit larger to appeal to a more senior demographic. Much of the photographic imagery is provided by the client, which makes it very relatable to their readers.
